Major earthquake hits southwest Pakistan
Major earthquake measuring 7.4-magnitude hits southwest Pakistan

A strong earthquake was felt in most parts of the UAE at around 12:27am on Wednesday, sending wave of panic among people who rushed out of their homes.

The epicenter of the earthquake has been reported in southern Pakistan and it was of magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale. The quake was felt in Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Dubai, parts of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

The US Geological Survey said it was a major earthquake and it was just 10km deep inside the earth.

No reports of damage of loss have been received immediately.

A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck southwestern Pakistan, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on Tuesday.

It said the quake, initially reported as a magnitude 7.3, was very shallow at a depth of 6.3 miles (10 km). It struck 34 miles (55 km) west of Dalbandin at 1:23 a.m. local time on Wednesday (2023 GMT on Tuesday).

The Pacific Tsunami Center said the onshore quake had not triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean.

A major quake of this magnitude is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage.
